Qualifications
Art House is seeking a collaborative, energetic, team player to fill the position of Educator Coordinator. The position requires a candidate that has experience with grant funded educational programs particularly residencies with schools . The candidate should also have experience with organizing visual art programs, classes, and workshops for adults, teens, children and families. Qualifications include 1.) BA or MA degree in art education, visual art, arts management, or art history 2) proven program development and implementation and/or curriculum development, exhibited by 3-5 years experience 3) excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Position Details: This is a part time position — 15 hours per week. Salary to commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:
Develop, coordinate, and implement visual arts programming that includes school residencies, classes, and community outreach for a wide range of audiences. Emphasis for these programs is on children, adults, and families. Responsible for working with resident artist and partner schools through our award winning Urban Bright Residency Program that serves 300-500 students annually. Candidates must be able to assist in developing arts curriculum for residencies lasting up to 10 weeks. Urban Bright is our grant funded artist residency program that brings together Cleveland artists with partner schools on an annual basis. Assist with developing and managing budgets for residencies. Coordinate and assess evaluations for Urban Bright and coordinate all evaluations for classes and programs . Coordinate and implement off-site outreach programs. Assist in maintaining studio space, maintain supplies and inventory for programs. Manage program volunteers and/or interns related to residencies, outreach, and classes. Additional tasks as needed by director.

“Artist Hank Willis Thomas will be presenting a free lecture at the museum on Saturday, January 28 at 2:30 pm. We had the opportunity to ask him a few questions before he gets here. Hopefully, it will inspire you to come up with a few more. See you there!

Q1: Who inspired you you to pursue photography as a career?

A: My mother, Deborah Willis, was my first influence. It was really fascinating to watch someone else write history the way she did. I was drawn by the power of photography to create evidence of how things exist…”

… holy crap.  I didn’t know Hank Willis Thomas was Deborah Willis’ son.  One more reason to go see his lecture.  I’ve heard he’s a really great speaker.  So come on out and enjoy.

Cleveland State’s new Arts Campus is taking shape, and in the process, drawing the attention of performing arts students nationwide. This month construction crews are placing finishing touches on the Middough Building renovations, as faculty, staff and students move into the new facility.

The Middough is the new home to CSU’s Theater, Dance and Art departments, just a stone’s throw from the Allen Theater, where a recent $30 million reconfiguration now offers CSU students three state-of-the-art performance venues in the heart of the nation’s largest theater district west of Broadway.

The Middough Building includes more than 120,000 square feet of classrooms, rehearsal space, art studios, offices, meeting rooms and production shops for sets and costumes. It is one of the most extensive undergraduate theater and dance facilities in the nation, and the only program in the country working alongside a professional theater company, the Cleveland Play House.

CSU students playing Angry Birds in a CSU "Stress Free Zone".

CSU photo student Ryan Upp photographed CSU’s “Stress Free Zones” during fall 2012 finals week. CSU provided a range of finals decompression activities including yoga & meditation, free food, henna painting, live Angry Birds, among others.  The photographs will be published in the New York Times – yes THE New York Times – on Sunday, January 22. They will also be published online on nytimes.com the same day. Congratulations Ryan.
