Student Art Show Call for Entries

CALL FOR ENTRIES
Cleveland State University
46th Student Art Show, May 5th to June 10th 2017

Drop off: Tuesday, April 25th + Wednesday, April 26th
10am to 4pm in the Art Gallery, located at 1307 Euclid Ave.
(entrace at side door on East 13th street)

Opening Reception: Friday, May 5th, 5 to 8PM

Requirements to Enter Juried Exhibition:

-All CSU students are eligible to participate

-Students may submit up to 4 pieces in any medium, size, or subject matter

-All works must have been produced in this past year

-Works must be ready to hang (matted/ framed/ with proper hanging hardware attached)

-All works will be sold as displayed

Louis Draper and Leonard Freed: Two photographers – one black, one white – look at life during the civil rights era. Both artists were incredibly talented formalists who put that skill at the service of expression. They also shared a goal: to create dignified depictions of African Americans that portrayed them not as victims or heroes but as individuals.

 

 

 

The Importance of Presentation

Please read these jurors’ statements about a past Student Art Show. While they both point out the strength of the photography work, they were really down on the overall presentation and lack of craftsman ship in the work submitted. While this has been less of an issue in more recent exhibitions.
