Why Cleveland, Ohio is Making Headlines

March 30, 2014

hi-res-still-00101-rgbjpg-bac64126f1a0995c

Forbes recently included Cleveland among the 15 U.S. cities with emerging downtowns. The New York Post said, “Cleveland is seeing a revival.” Fortune Magazine went so far as to call Cleveland a “new Brooklyn,” comparing three of our trendiest neighborhoods to Williamsburg…

…Cleveland State created an Arts Campus in PlayhouseSquare, bringing together our theatre, dance, and art departments in a central hub. Students pursuing their passion for the arts have an unprecedented opportunity to do so alongside seasoned professionals at the Allen Theatre, which boasts three state-of-the-art performance venues.

Check out Why Cleveland, Ohio is Making Headlines by CSU President Berkman in the Huffington Post College Blog.

“This Thursday, The Galleries at Cleveland State University host their 43rd Annual Student Art Show and Merit Scholarship Exhibition. The Student Show is a juried exhibition organized entirely CSU’s Student Organization of Fine Arts (SOFA).

This year’s jurors are Sean Burns and Brandon Juhasz. Burns is a fairly recent graduate of Cleveland Institute of Art (Drawing with a minor in Printmaking) and owner of Lakewood’s Breakneck Gallery.

He is currently doing a residency as part of Cleveland West Art League’s (CWAL) 6 in Studio at 78th Street Studios.

The Merit Scholarship Exhibition is a contractual obligation of students receiving the Art Department’s Merit Scholarships. This year’s recipients are Dunya Abrahim, Yiyun Chen, Benji Diaz, Matt Kapela, Jeremy Kurth, Ben Rodriguez, Omid Tavakoli and Candice Vlcek.”
