Fred Bidwell Gallery Talk
Sep 25, 6pm
Transformer Station
1460 W 29th St. Cleveland, OH
Fred Bidwell, Co-founder of Transformer Station will make a special presentation in the galleries on in the final week of “Unknown: Pictures of Strangers” to share his thoughts on the art and artists of this remarkable exhibition. Bidwell will discuss the concept of the show which explores how artists use photography to capture images of strangers. Through the back-stories of many of the works on view and other examples of the artists’ works, this talk will address the many intended meanings of anonymous portraits and their often charged relationships to issues of social taboos, privacy, anonymity, self-image and class distinctions. Admission is free and open to the public.

Last week CSU photo visited the Transformer Station to view Unknown: Pictures of Strangers and Transit Byzantium, a video art installation by Tim Davis. To revisit some of the work we viewed, visit tsguide.org. And good luck on your own photographs of strangers.
