“…Curated by Barbara Tannenbaum, the former head curator at the Akron Art Museum who’s now curator of photography at the Cleveland Museum of Art, the exhibit is a groundbreaking event.

The first museum exhibit to examine the print-on-demand photo book phenomenon and explore its impact on contemporary photographic practice, the free exhibit features more than 150 books and 18 framed photographs.”

“…The museum also organized competitions at three local colleges — the Cleveland Institute of Art, Cleveland State University and the University of Akron — to encourage young talents to explore the medium.

The winners are Lisa Fovozzo Taras Cleveland Institute of Art, Peg McNally Cleveland State University, Ryan Upp Cleveland State University and Susie Lilley University of Akron.”

DIY: Photographers & Books

March 6, 2012

Cleveland Museum of Art Curator of Photography, Barbara Tannenbaum presenting on print-on-demand books to CSU photo students.

How great was Barbara Tannenbaum’s visit on Monday? As you Photo II & III student already know we’re folding a print-on-demand artist book into the requirements of our half-term project. These books may be submitted for a chance to be included in Barbara’s debut exhibition at the Cleveland Museum of Art, DIY: Photographers &Books.

A reminder about the book requirements: they must be created with a print-on-demand service, such as blurb and lulu; and they must be available for purchase via the POD service.
