FRESH LOOKS 2020: A Free Juried Student Art Exhibition specifically for graduating art students in Michigan and Ohio

In an effort to continually enhance and expand dialog among emerging artists and regional institutions, Eastern Michigan University announces FRESH LOOKS 2020.

This exhibition is designed to celebrate the creative accomplishments of emerging undergraduate art majors in the region, and showcase the diverse approaches to art making found within neighboring institutions in Michigan and Ohio. All media and approaches are welcome! Those selected to participate will represent student excellence and highlight the unique voice of a new class of young artist as they prepare to transition into their professional careers or an advanced degree program.

This exhibition is open to undergraduate art majors who expect to complete their studies during the 2019/2020 academic year. There is no application fee attached to this exhibition. However, selected artists are expected to cover any costs associated with the delivery and return of their work. Questions may be directed to Gregory Tom, Gallery Director at gtom@emich.edu.

2018 Cleveland Print Room Juried Exhibition: THE PEER SHOW.

DEADLINE: Tuesday, May 29 at 6pm.

The Cleveland Print Room is seeking photographic submissions for our juried exhibition, June 8 – July 28, to be judged this year by Jennifer Coleman, The George Gund Foundations’s Senior Program Officer for the Arts, and Lillian Kuri, Cleveland Foundation’s Vice President of Strategic Grantmaking, Arts & Urban Design Initiatives.

This is a unique opportunity for photographic artists to exhibit their work and receive substantial exposure in Cleveland’s only dedicated photographic art gallery, community darkroom, educational center, and studio workspace. Over 30 selected works will be exhibited in our gallery, with a top prize of $300 to be awarded. All selections and cash awards will be made at the discretion of the jurors and will be final.

Best of Show: $300
Best B&W: $150
Best Color: $150
Best Alt Process: $150
Director’s Award: $100

ELIGIBILITY:

Artists must be at least 16 years of age and reside in the US or Canada.

An entry fee of $30 for CPR members or $35 for non-members is payable upon submission of works. Artists may submit up to two (2) pieces of original art in any photographic medium, analog or digital. Entry fees are non-refundable.

We prefer to judge entries in person as they would be presented in our gallery, so all work from entrants residing within 50 miles must hand-deliver their submissions to the Cleveland Print Room. All others should send high quality digital images (.jpg or .png) with filenames including the artist name and title of the work along with their completed entry form to info@clevelandprintroom.comEntry fees may also be paid via PayPal to info@clevelandprintroom.com — PLEASE SPECIFY “PEER SHOW” in the Note field.

Work drop-off dates are Thursday, MAY 24, 12 to 6pm; Friday, MAY 25, 12 to 6pm; Saturday, MAY 26, 12-5pm; Tuesday, MAY 29, 12 to 6pm; and Wednesday, MAY 30, 3 to 6pm.

Artists whose work has been judged into the show will be contacted by midnight of Friday June 1.

Work not accepted MUST be picked up on Saturday June 2, 10am to 2pm; Sunday, June 3, 12 to 3pm; or Tuesday, June 5, noon to 6pm.

***All work must be READY TO HANG from typical gallery picture hooks without needing special equipment, and framed pieces should be strung with picture wire. Presentation is important! Please do not use cheap plastic frames with keyhole or sawtooth hangers on the back. CPR reserves the right to refuse artwork that is NOT ready to hang.***

Artists must complete a two-part entry form, one part to be attached to the work, and one part given to CPR at drop-off time. The entry form can be found here:

The Cleveland Print Room invites members and non-members to submit artwork for our 2016 juried exhibition, The Peer Show. Juried Exhibition for Current Student in Columbus

ROY G BIV Gallery is now accepting submissions for New School, a juried exhibition for undergraduate students. This exhibition aims to showcase the best, cutting-edge student work and to connect student artists from different schools. Jurors Mark Zuzik, Ken Aschliman and Erin McKenna will select the exhibiting artists. Entries are open to any artist currently enrolled in an undergraduate program. The selected artists’ work will be exhibited from April 17–May 15, 2015, at M I N T Art Gallery.

ABOUT THE JURORS

 

  • Mark Zuzik is the Programs Coordinator for the Pizzuti Collection. He graduated from Bowling Green State University in 2009 with a BA in Art History. He has a pointed interest in contemporary art, design and craft, as well as community building through collaborative arts programming.
  • Ken Aschliman is the director of ROY G BIV Gallery for Emerging Artists. He received his BFA in Fine Arts and Minor in Art History from Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD) in 2011. Previously, Aschliman taught at the Columbus Museum of Art, Ohio Craft Museum and CCAD.
  •  Erin McKenna is a visual artist who lives and works in Columbus, OH.  She graduated from Columbus College of Art & Design in 2012.  In summer of 2012, she and others founded No Place, a studio warehouse space for making, collaborating and events. Erin is the Head Preparator at Canzani Gallery and a temporary preparator at the Wexner Center for the Arts.

2011 Ohio All-media Art Exhibition

Open to all artists who reside in Ohio and are over the age of 18. Works in any media, traditional or experimental, qualify. All works must be original, not previously exhibited at The Coburn Gallery and must have been completed within the last two years.

Juror

Recently, Carlson was juried into the prestigious Midyear Show at the Butler Institute of American Art ( juror: George Adams) and invited to participate in the Florence Biennale by the Internal Committee of the International Biennial of Contemporary Art for 2009 at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence Italy. He was also nominated for the Annual Cleveland Arts Prize in 2009.

A maximum of three entries are allowed per artist. Submit a non-refundable entry fee of $20.00 payable to Ashland University.

Delivery and Return of Work
After jury notification, accepted works should be either hand-delivered or sent pre-paid postal carrier to arrive at the Coburn Gallery the week of June 17, 2011. Shipped works must be packaged in reusable cartons and return shipping should be pre-paid. Plexiglas should be used on all shipped 2-D artwork.

All artwork should be wired and ready to hang upon delivery. The gallery director reserves the right to reject any work not framed, wired or presented in a professional or sound manner.

Upon closing of the exhibition, hand-delivered works can be obtained on Saturday, August 6, from 10 a.m.- noon or Monday, August 8 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Shipped artwork will be returned using prepaid labels in the original container.

Liability and Insurance
Ashland University will insure all works from their delivery to their departure from the University. The Coburn Gallery and Ashland University are not responsible for any damage or loss occurring in transit.

Sales
Sales will be encouraged. A 25% commission will be charged on all works sold. Your entry grants the Coburn Gallery permission to photograph/publish entries for promotional or educational purposes.

Manifest’s is now seeking submissions for the Rites of Passage 2011

PIEA Photo Competitions (for Students & Faculty)

The Photo Imaging Education Association section of Photo Marketing Association International announces: The 2011 PIEA International Student-Teacher Photo Competition and Exhibition.

As of November 1st, 2010 the 2011 contest has over US$246,000.00 in prizes donated by 53generous sponsors.

The top photographs will be exhibited at the PMA Imaging 2011 Convention in Las Vegas, NV USA September 8-10, 2011. Two 2011 PIEA International Traveling Photo Exhibitions will tour major conventions, schools, colleges and museums for three years in the USA, United Kingdom, Australia, South Africa and Canada. The top prize-winning images will be published in Photo Marketing Magazine.

WHAT’S NEXT: Student Juried Exhibition

The 2nd annual WHAT’S NEXT juried exhibition seeks exceptional work from current undergraduate students. Hosted by Bradley University Galleries, this competition surveys the nation’s art students to find what’s next in visual art.

ELIGIBILITY
All artists must be enrolled in an undergraduate art program at the time of entry, and all artwork submitted must have been completed within the last two years. All forms of creative expression are encouraged.

JUROR: Liz Nielsen
Liz Nielsen is a Chicago based independent curator as well as a photographic installation artist. She photographs constructed universes, mysticism, love and failure. She teaches photography at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is the director of a small gallery in Chicago called the Swimming Pool Project Space. In 2004, Nielsen received her MFA in Photography from UIC, in 2002, her BFA from SAIC, and in 1995, her BA in Philosophy and Spanish from Seattle University.

APPLICATION
We accept entries online or by mail. Each Individual artwork submitted must be accompanied by a $10 non-refundable entry fee. Number of entries is unlimited. Entry fee must be paid by check or money order made payable to Bradley University or by credit card. Detail images may be included at no additional cost but should only be provided when necessary to reveal accurate understanding of the artwork. Entries submitted without payment will not be considered.

Image files should be in HIGH QUALITY JPEG format, images should be no smaller than 1000 pixels in any direction (about 13″) and 72dpi. The artist is responsible for delivering or shipping the artwork to and from the gallery. A barcoded shipping label OR adequate postage for return shipping must be included with all shipped work. After March 15, 2011, all unclaimed artwork will become the property of Bradley University.
